Specialist Provision
We are a mixed age class across Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2. We deliver an adapted curriculum to best meet the needs of our children. Our lessons follow the Attention Autism Approach, designed by Gina Davis, and we are excited to deliver the curriculum with a highly engaging and motivating structure. We bring our learning to life with practical and hands on experiences for all curriculum areas, from Maths to History.
In addition to our exciting curriculum lessons, throughout the week we also have additional sessions around life skills, social skills, group Occupational Therapy and group Speech and Language. We have additional intervention times to help us develop our reading, phonics, speech and language targets, and individual support plan targets, as well as opportunities to explore our fantastic sensory room, occupational therapy room, school library and woodland area. We use the Zones of Regulation to help the children to understand their emotions, and to develop an important awareness of the strategies that will help them to manage their emotions as they continue to grow. Colourful semantics is key to our writing across all subjects and is a helpful tool for developing independence in communication as well as writing and comprehension.
We aim to foster increased independence and communication skills throughout all of our learning experiences to help the children develop crucial life skills that will enable them to navigate the world around them with greater confidence and less uncertainty.
We have high expectations of our children to enable them to be the best they can be and achieve their full potential.
